I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Emily was a bright, happy and smart 8 year old when we first heard the words, "your daughter has cancer." She was a competitive cheerleader and couldn't do her tumbling pass at practice one day preparing for a competition. A trip to the immediate care found a tumor instead of the simple pulled muscle we were hoping for. For 15 months she battled with a grace and determination beyond her years. On May 11, 2012 at only 10 years old, she drifted away from us, much too soon, but she can see clearly now, the pain is gone. She fought hard, cared about others and tried to make a difference. She encouraged others, did what she could to help her friends battling cancer. She thought of those she had never met facing the same challenges she faced. We continue her fight and desire to help others. Emily would be 17 now, a junior in high school. She never got to have a boy friend, go to a formal or dress up for the prom. She didn't get to scare us to death learning to drive. She is still that wide eyed, bubbly 10 year old cheering her heart out. We can make a difference, somewhere there is a cure to be found, I raise funds for Emily, to continue her legacy and support research and funding so one day an other little girl doesn't have fight this fight.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
