I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

This is my 7th year shaving.  My first year was actually with a student of mine at his church.  It was then that I said to myself, "why are we not doing something like this at our school?  There are so many lessons that we could instill in our students." It was the following year that our movement and mission began and it has grown so so much over the past 6 years!  Our small but mighty school community has shown up each and every year and outdid the year before.  This year especially is near and dear to our hearts as one of very own students, PreSchool student, Jace Serwalt, is battling cancer right now.  Now that is three students all under the age of 8 who have been affected by this horrible disease right in our community and the one next to us.  We are determined to keep fighting until a cure is found so other kids do not have to ever go through what Jace, Ben (last year's amabassador and Honored Kid), and Frankie (2 years ago ambassador and Honored Kid) never have to go through this again and can just be kids.  Please help us in our fight!

All of the hair clippings also benefit an organization called Matter of Trust which makes mats of the hair fibers to clean the oceans of oil spills.  We also have several students and teachers cutting this year and donating their hair to Children with Hair Loss which makes wigs for children who have lost theirs due to chemotherapy.

Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
