I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! I’m a mom of two wonderful kids and I’m thankful for their health. Lots of kids and their families aren’t as lucky as we are, so I’m shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research to help other kids in the future. Childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

During this journey to the big shave day, I have had the honor to be introduced to a family that was personally affected by pediatric cancer.  Finn Schafran died last December, just shy of his fourth birthday.  This bright, beautiful little boy was taken from his family and friends far too soon.  His family captured his journey in a real and raw way that only people who have experienced the horror of pediatric cancer can.  You can read Finn's story here: https://www.syracuse.com/news/2019/01/after-a-rare-cancer-kills-their-child-a-family-pleads-for-more-research.html and here: https://finnsfans.wordpress.com/.   I never had the chance to meet Finn, but it's clear he and his family fought for every minute they had together.  I am so grateful to Finn's parents, BrandiLee and Dan, for allowing me to share their story and for allowing me to honor Finn in this fundraiser.

Finn's family is allowing me to do so because they are resolute that there needs to be more research into childhood cancers.  That's why I'm shaving my head: to raise money for the research that can help the next child.

On Sunday, when they shave my head, I'll be thinking of Finn.

I'll be thinking of my own children and how grateful I am that they are healthy.

I'll be thinking of a child who might have access to a clinical trial or a better chance because of the money that we raise.

And I'll be thinking of you, without which none of that would be possible!

THANK YOU for your generosity and support.  My hair will grow back (don't worry, Lee!), and in the meantime, we will fight for a cure.
