Will you please help?!
I need to raise just a few hundred more dollars by Sunday so that I can join my team and take my seat on a barber’s chair at Dave & Busters in Honolulu where I will be shaved bald (!!!) to symbolize my solidarity with my special friend Haley and all the other little bolo-head kids with childhood cancers.
After attending my first St. Baldrick’s event to support Haley, I promised I’d sign up for the team “next year.” Well, “next year” has arrived and I need to make good on that promise. Haley's team includes several closely cropped Marines and several women, including a hula dancer with hair almost to her knees. WE’RE ALL TAKING IT ALL OFF FOR HALEY!!
The St. Baldrick’s organization touches me particularly deeply because I’ve watched this amazing little 8-year-old do battle with a very tough cancer since she was 5. She’s had two brain surgeries, zillions of chemo and radiation treatments, endless procedures, restrictions, and difficult therapies. She has had to completely re-learn how to speak, walk, and read.
THERE IS NO KNOWN CURE FOR THE RECURRENT MEDULLOBLASTOMA HALEY IS BATTLING. She’s giving cancer one heck of a fight, but what we really need is research…and a lot of good luck.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation currently funds more childhood cancer research grants than any other organization except the U.S. government. The Foundation coordinates its signature head-shaving events worldwide, where volunteers get bald to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer and raise money to support life-saving childhood cancer research. St. Baldrick's events are the largest volunteer-driven fundraising opportunity benefitting pediatric cancer research.
Will you please help? I’m reaching out to friends old and new, far and near. Can you spare $5? $25? $100?? Sincerely, any amount you can manage is deeply appreciated and put to very efficient use. And you really just never know…those few dollars you give may help fund a major breakthrough for Haley and kids like her.
A couple of quick clicks is all it takes to contribute with PayPal or a credit card. Won’t you feel better knowing you’ve done just a little something to help Haley and all the thousands of other kids who are counting on research to find cures for their childhood cancers?
From the top of my soon-to-be shiny head and the warmest place in my heart, I thank you! Don't forget to check back here for the "updated" photos on Monday!
MAHALO, ALOHA, a me MALAMA PONO!
(Thanks, Love, and Take Care!)
