I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I only had five months of motherhood before my life took a sharp turn into "Pediatric Cancer Mom" territory. The first four years of her life were scary. We were in and out of hospitals in three states trying to get her retinoblastoma treated, so I know firsthand what that journey is like. I also know that even if children are cured, there is no return to normal life after a childhood cancer diagnosis. We befriended, fell in love with, and mourned so many beautiful kids who deserved a long and healthy life but did not get that chance.  Our family happened to get lucky and I am grateful for that - but kids should have better treatment options at hand.

Kalia just turned 17 so this is her last year as a legal minor. In honor of seventeen birthdays as a cancer kid, she has decided to fundraise for St. Baldrick's alongside me this year. She and I will be headed to Washington DC this summer, where we will BOTH be shaving our heads and visiting our legislators to talk about pediatric cancer funding. Please consider a donation. You'll be making a huge difference in the lives of thousands of families.
