I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Melting Pot for Cancer

March 19th at Blake Street Tavern 11:00-4:00, shave time will be at 3:00

Soooo I swore I would never shave my head again, after shaving it for the 3rd time in 2017.  This was mostly due to the increased amount of grey hair that comes in during the re-grow process and it's too short to color initially BUT how do you say no when you have 3 parents of 3 of my patients that are asking if I was creating a team this year.  So yes, regardless of the amount of grey hair you all will be seeing for MANY months, I am yet again shaving my head for St. Baldrick's.  Most importantly, I am raising money for one of my favorite organizations.

This will be the 8th year that I have organized a team and to date, my tiny teams over the past 7 years have raised a total of $130,175.  I am so proud of this and of each member, who year after year, decided to join the Melting Pot for Cancer and help raise money.  Today, I looked back at all the patients I have had the honor of taking care of.  I currently have 19 patients actively receiving therapy, 32 patients who are not on therapy but are being closely monitored, 231 patients who have completed therapy and are cancer free and 47 that fought to the bitter end but are now angels helping guide me each day.

This year, I have a warrior patient who will be giving birth to her own child and another warrior patient who will be getting married.  I want to celebrate those types of life events that my patients should be living for, not counting how many angels will continue to watch over me, but without funding and research for Pediatric Cancer, those celebrations are not always possible.  I currently work with many Physicians, here at Children's Hospital Colorado, in my department, whose cancer research is, to this day, funded by St. Baldrick's so I know we are receiving some of the funds right here in my department.  Please consider donating this year, even if it's only a few dollars.  Every dollar adds to the support that is needed to help with new therapies, better outcomes and cures!!!

Kids with cancer need our support now more than ever. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures.  Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease so please support me if you are able!
