Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
Just under 10 years ago, my childhood friend Richard Culliver passed away due to a very aggressive pediatric brain tumor. He was nine, and fought for almost two years. He was also an amazing person, so funny and smart, becoming a major figure in my hometown of Lexington, SC for his fight. My dad has spent the last decade raising thousands of dollars in Richard's name, to prevent the tragic loss of kids just like him, and I want to join as well.
People are diagnosed with cancer all the time, I just recently lost my mom and grandmother to the fight, as well as countless other friends, family, and pets. But a crucial issue is that 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive. For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50. St. Baldrick's is trying to cure that.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
My hair won't go to waste either, I will be donating as much as I can (a little over 2 feet) to Children with Hair Loss. This organization provides free of charge wigs to kids in need. Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you so much for your support!
