I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Yes Way, Jose!

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Yes Way, Jose!

I'm at it again. In honor of former student and forever friend, Jose Andres, I am raising money on behalf of the St. Baldrick's Foundation to benefit pediatric cancer research, awareness, and treatment. I met Jose Andres back in 2005, when I was a rookie 5th grade teacher in Chesapeake, Virginia. I didn't get to actually meet him until 2006, as he had already been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. As he beat cancer a total of three time over the years (a combination of Rhabdomyosarcoma and Leukemia), he and I forged a special bond. In 2009, he became an angel, an eternal warrior. I was always struck by his insightfulness, thirst for learning, intense love for his incredible family, and most of all, his selflessness, particularly as he desired to see others enjoy themselves and to do well despite his own serious condition.
