The Flow Must Go
It is time. Time for a haircut. As some of you know, a haircut for me has been at best a quarterly occurrence, occasionally may be even a semi-annual event. But my next haircut will be more than a trim or a clean-up. This time I am going all the way. To support the Saint Baldrick’s Foundation, I will be participating in their head shaving fundraiser on Sunday March 27. I am asking you to support this worthy organization by contributing to my fundraising page. Let’s see how much we can raise to support this incredible group and the kids they help through their efforts.
You might be asking why is he doing this now. Well, here is the brief story. Over the last couple of years, our family has seen the pain and suffering that cancer brings. We have lost family members and friends and have seen others continue to fight and battle this terrible disease. One of the people we lost was John Baker, the 20 year old son of Lorri’s cousin. While I did not know John well, I know he was a young man who had great dreams and a zest for living life to the fullest. He fought a long battle with cancer with courage and strength that was inspiring to all who knew John. When Lorri and I were recently with John’s family, we listened to his parents and two brothers talk about all that they experienced with John, the great memories they have of being with him, but also the pain they continue to feel every day. Driving home that evening, all I could think about is how much cancer sucks. It strips the life from the wonderful people who are fighting it and leaves a hole in the hearts of those who are there with them every step of the way. Unfortunately, we all know someone who has lost a battle to cancer. We mourn them forever. However, cancer is not undefeated. We also know people who have fought and beat cancer. This has been possible because of their amazing spirit and strength and the support of others. Their victories were aided by the significant research that has gone into fighting this terrible disease. So please join me in this small effort to bring awareness to those who are in the fight and to raise funds to support childhood cancer research.
Let’s have some fun with this and see what we all can do to help those who are or may fight cancer. Thank you all for your generosity.
Before and after pictures and may be some video will be shared. Stay tuned.
