We are here to raise money for kids' cancer research!
As someone who was born and raised in the Village of Walden, I was first inspired to be part of this event by my friend Robbie Brown. Robbie lost cousin Megan Dunn to Leukemia far too soon. Since that time I have had the privilege, through St. Baldricks and other charitable organizations, to meet children who are doing their best to beat cancer. Some I have met are still fighting strong, some are in remission and some unfortunately have lost their battle.
As a father of three I just CANNOT imagine going through this. This year I was inspired to join a team because our greater Walden community got some pretty bad news. Another child of Walden, Cillian McNamee was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Cillian is ALSO Robbie's cousin and his parents are friends of mine. Cillian has gone through his first round of treatment and is handling this with the fortitude and grit needed to one day CONQUER his cancer. We know he will get there, and we have faith. In the meantime, we must all play our part, not just for Cillian but for all those children who have a cancer diagnosis and their families.
At our event, some folks will shave their heads – and others like me will keep the hair we have and put our hearts into supporting childhood cancer research.
During the pandemic, donations have been down sharply, which is a big deal since the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest non-government supporter of childhood cancer research grants.
Please consider making a donation to my team as part of TEAM CILLIAN'S CLAN!. Thank you!
