I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: ACAD

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: ACAD

The very first time I shaved I was an 8th grader in middle school and I just shaved with my school's AVID program. This was our first year doing it as a program and my first. Going into it I didnt think as much as I do of it until I walked off the stage. I had shaved with a whole team of my friends and classmates. After walking off the stage I was hugging and highfiving my classmates because we did it!

Than something unexpected happened that changed my life and perspective on cancer.

I felt my shoulder get pulled back slightly and there was a woman whom I had never seen before. I turned around to her and stepped away from the crowd a bit. She just began hugging me and I could tell she was fighting back tears. All I knew to do was just to hug back. And when I did that she told me quietly in my ear, "You look just like my son before he died. Thank you." That moment was the most touching moment in my entire life. And because of it I will always shave my head and advocate for the cause.

We have made the news with team ACAD!
