This is my 7th year participating in St. Baldrick's. I started in Primary 1 at Saltus when I wanted to help raise money to help kids that were too sick to play football with their friends (everyone should be able to do that!) but I didn't really understand then what I was doing this for. Now I am in Year 7 I can understand much more about what kids with cancer go through and I care even more about helping them. I still think everyone should be able to play football if they want to :)
This year my Mum is joining me by donating her hair to Locks of Love. She does this every 5 years and grows it back out in between. Right now she is pretty grumpy because her hair is so long it is always in the way so she can't wait to chop it off on March 15th.
Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’m joining thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.
Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
