I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: O’Connell

I haven’t made up my mind if I should shave my head or not.

My cousin Olivia is doing great. Click on the yellow “Ozone2019 Shavers& Lifesavers”  link next to my pic to see her update.  On the other hand, kids and teens are getting diagnosed with this terrible cancer all the time. They have to endure 9 months of chemotherapy that would probably kill a middle-aged adult.  They also have to deal with surgeries, often multiple surgeries. I am losing count how many surgeries Olivia’s friend John Varney has had.

When my uncle, Olivia’s dad, learned about the treatment for Osteosarcoma and it’s outcomes he was not impressed. He asked every doctor he met, WHAT was needed to change things with this cancer. And everyone told them they needed a dedicated grant to help get things moving — better treatments and better outcomes. So this is it. The research is already underway — including 2 clinical trials!!! So now we are doing a final push this year to finish funding this grant.

So here’s the challenge. I shaved my head 2 years ago, it wasn’t fun. But Olivia wasn’t having a very good summer either. This year I will brace the shave if YOU get me to my goal. Hit the green donate button, make me shave, I dare you.
