My Story

In May of 2021 I suffered from an intussusception that required emergency surgery to remove part of my colon and small intestine. At that time, my operating doctor found a large mass that turned out to be Burkitt's Lymphoma, an aggressive type of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I was lucky to have found the tumors while still in stage 3, because that meant I didn't need as many rounds of chemo as we first thought! Over the next four months I spent close to 80 days in the hospital receiving 5 rounds of intensive chemotherapy and treatment for resulting illnesses. I had 4 surgeries, bone marrow biopsies, multiple hospitalizations for neutropenia and mucositis, 10 lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, and even a tooth pulled! I was thrilled to be able to ring the bell when my PET/CT scans showed no evidence of cancer this past September! Besides my awesome Doctors and Nurses at Lurie's, I am thankful to have benefitted from the most recent form of chemotherapy that research found to help kids like me. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
