My Story
In August of 2018, Madeline was diagnosed with a very rare genetic condition called MEN2B. One in 4 million! This caused her to develop a rare and aggressive form of thyroid cancer (MTC). She was treated in October 2018 with 8 hours of surgery, removing her thyroid and 219 lymph nodes. She was staged at 4A. The surgery was successful bringing her tumor-marker blood work numbers to a very good place. We know that there is no cure, and the cancer is slowly returning. The good news is that she has treatment options. She continues to thrive, doing very well in school; and enjoying sports such as climbing, kayaking, and skiing.
