Elliott was diagnosed with A Wilms tumor, kidney cancer, on April 20,2021. We had gone to see his pediatrician because we thought something was wrong with his hernia. His doctor had us go to IU North for some imaging because his stomach felt like there was a huge mass, not his hernia. After hours at IU North, they told us about the cancer and transported us to Riley’s. We stayed all week and Elliott had surgery to remove his right kidney and the tumor. The surgery was unsuccessful. He started chemo on Monday May 10,2021 and will do treatment for six weeks before they do more scans to see if they can do surgery again. Afterwards he will do radiation and chemo combined for three weeks, then just chemo for the remainder of his treatment. He has a long road ahead of him but my son is the bravest person I know. He is so strong. And he is my hero.
