My Story
Declan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-Cell on April 9, 2020. He was just 8 years old. We went in to the pediatrician for an ear infection and by 5pm that afternoon we had a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Declan was admitted to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital that night and stayed until April 29. Prior to this, he was a very healthy happy boy so this was all so new and foreign to him. Since starting chemo treatments, he has been a champ. Never complains and tries his best to act like things are normal. He is in the very high risk treatment category and has received so many spinal taps and chemo treatments that we are losing count. He continues to be our hero. He has a 6 year old brother who says Declan is his own super hero. Declan is now considered in remission but will stay in maintenance treatment once a month until August of 2022.
Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick's Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
