Mary Stewart (aka Massy) was diagnsed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia when she was only 4 years old. After suffering through chemo, radiation and a stem cell treatment, she enjoyed 22 months of remission. We thought we were in the clear until disaster struck again. The cancer came back and with that a grim prognosis. At the time, doctors only gave Massy a 10-20 percent chance of survival.
After more chemo, more radiation and a risky 2nd stem cell transplant, Mary Stewart is now 9 years old and more than 3 years in remission. We are both hopeful and nervous each day.
Thank you so much for supporting the fight against cancer. Only through targeted research will we find better treatments and help these kids live long, full lives.
