In April of 2018 at the tender age of 4, Daniel started suffering from uncontrollable seizures. Upon extensive evaluation and testing, it was discovered that Daniel had a tumor located in the posterior fossa region of his brain and was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. After numerous surgeries and extensive hospital stays, the tumor was successfully removed. Daniel also had to undergo physical therapy to regain his speech and motor skills after surgery as unfortunately he developed posterior fossa syndrome. Daniel has undergone radiation @ ProCure and received his Chemotherapy @ Memorial Sloan Kettering. During radiation treatment Daniel started to present with symptoms of hydrocephulas and it was found that due to scar tissue that was now blocking the flow of fluids off the brain. Due to this Daniel had to undergo another surgery in order to have a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt placed to relieve the fluid off the brain. Daniel returned and completed his radiation treatment on July 11, 2018. He has also completed his chemotherapy treatment almost a year after on June 27, 2019. Throughout all of this Daniel never stopped smiling and kept up the fight.
Well fast forward almost 2 years after initial tumor resection and 7 months after completing treatments Daniel now has an additional tumor on the right side of his brain which was discovered during a routine check-up. The picture you see of Daniel is the day after he learned the news that he was in for his second fight with another brain tumor. Although terrible news, Daniel continues to smile. Daniel is a very big fan of super heroes and considers himself as Batman. Like Batman, Daniel has remained strong and is our Super Hero.
