My Story

Gabriel was diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma in November of 2019 at the age of 14.  Gabe was an amazing kid who was an avid gamer and video blogger. He  loved classic muscle cars, (his favorite being the Chevy Camaro).  He was a dedicated advanced Lego builder. Building lego structures helped take his mind off the boredom and discomfort of  the many months spent in a hospital room, especially during flu and Covid restrictions.  He managed to build quite a collection.  Gabe participated in Jr. high football, wrestling, and track. His favorite was track.  Even though he was built for wrestling, he was surprisingly fast. His coaches said he was a great athlete to coach who always gave his best and demonstrated good sportsmanship and humility.

Over the course of his year long battle Gabe fought bravely through port placement surgery, a mid thigh amputation, bilateral lung surgeries, numerous tests and chemotherapy treatments, radiation treatments, and a pericardial effusion, which required a large needle to be placed into his chest to drain the pint of fluid collecting around his heart, (he did this while awake).

Gabriel touched so many lives in countless ways during his 15 yrs. He brought love and laughter to his family and friends. He taught all those who heard of his journey to face life’s challenges head on with courage, strength, and dignity. He showed us all how to always keep fighting and never give up! No matter how many obstacles get thrown at you, you must keep moving forward!

In the end, Gabriel won his battle with cancer. The very moment he transitioned from this earthly realm, he awoke in paradise and ran on two healthy legs into the arms of his Lord and Savior.  He fought the good fight, he ran his race, he kept his faith, and remained #Gabestrong!
