My Story

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. Jake was at basketball camp when he started complaining of right knee pain. Never one to complain unnecessarily, we bought an otc brace and went to his new H.S. for soccer tryouts the day before his MRI. Jake met the coach and some of the kids. I took him to a movie after as I knew it would be the last day before the word cancer would become part of his life. Jake has stayed positive during the most trying times and the love we've received from so many others has changed all of us. Jake is now 15 and post surgical replacement of his right knee and 20cm of his femur. We are almost done with inpatient chemo and are dreaming of all those healthy days, strengthening enough to lose the crutches, getting a permit and actually attending 10th grade in the Fall. UNC Children's Cancer and Hematology clinic is where my son is always treated with respect, kindness, age appropriate teen opportunities and the best innovative empathetic care I've ever witnessed. Thank you for visiting this page and for supporting the research that is saving our children's lives.
