On August 29, 2018 I was diagnosed with cancer in my local emergency department and transferred by ambulance 3 hours from home to DC Children’s to begin treatment. I had been sick for several weeks & had been to my pediatrician but they didn’t know why I was vomiting & having pain every morning! I also had begun to complain of pain in my bones. My mom knew something was wrong and kept pushing for answers but she never expected to be told I had cancer. I started treatment right away on August 31. I had issues with my blood sugar and found out about a week after being diagnosed with cancer that I also have type 1 diabetes. It has been a big scary adjustment to go through all of this at once but my family & my community are supporting me every step of the way. Today marks one month since I was diagnosed. I will have chemo for about 3.5 years but I know I am going to beat cancer!! Thank you for supporting me & all the other kids with cancer! Kids can’t fight cancer alone!
