My Story
Sarah was diagnosed with AML In October of 2011. She did her treatments in Salt Lake City at Primary Childrens Hospital eight hours from her Montana home. She had four long rounds of chemotherapy that lasted 9 months. She went 6 months cancer free. Right before Christmas we learned she would need a bone marrow transplant. Back to Salt Lake we went for almost 8 months and transplant. She was just getting back into school when she encountered a few complications from her transplant. She traveled back to Salt Lake monthly and had weekly blood draws and doctor appointments once a week locally to check on all of her counts and catch any issues that may come up. Sarah gained her angel wings early morning October 1, 2016 at Seattle Children’s Hospital surrounded by her family after an enduring, courageous five year battle with Leukemia.
