Lenka was diagnosed just a few weeks after starting her first year at Princeton Univeristy in the fall of 2007. The following 8 months were full of chemo treatments, hospitals stays, but... she made it! She returned to Princeton in the fall of 2008 and is now completing her second year.
The ironic part of Lenka's story is that she volunteered at the Emanuel Children's Cancer Clinic for six weeks during the summer prior to diagnosis because she is very interested in becoming a Pediatric Oncologist. We support her choice, but don't feel that she needed to experience cancer in it's full form! Lenka loves to read, play soccer, knit, knit some more and hang out with her friends. She has always enjoyed being with younger childen. She handled this jog in her plans with grace and humor - dyeing her head hot pink, not worrying about her bald head.
Since returning back to school, Lenka has lost many of her friends she met at the hospital to cancer: Sam, Carter, Kelsey, Liam and Leslie. Please donate to St. Baldricks to fund research so that other families won't lose their precious children.
