My Story

Kaydin was diagnosed when he was only 5 months old. He spent the majority of his life living at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence Rhode Island. He was inpatient for more then 300 days. he had over 11 cycles of chemotherapy each cycle consisted of several chemotherapy drugs. During his treatments he received more than 15 different types of chemotherapy over a hundred platelet transfusions and More Than 3 liters of blood transfusions he also required immunoglobulin and g-csf to help boost his immune system he was considered neutropenic for more than half of his life. Neutropenic means that he did not have any immune system to fight off any type of infection. It's been 40 years and the FDA and the cancer institutes are still using the same drugs nothing has changed. Every 2 minutes another child is diagnosed with cancer. Seven children will die today because we do not have funding to find a cure for childhood cancers. My son will be forever 1 years old as he sadly passed away March 23 2017. We need change. So another mother and father do not have to feel the pain of hearing the words your child has cancer. So another mother and another father do not have to hear the words we are out of options. So another parent isn't planning a funeral for their one-year-old child. It's organizations like this that Supply the most funding for Childhood Cancer Research. Our government fails our children by providing only 3.8% funding to Childhood Cancer Research. I never thought it would be my child. What would you do if it was yours? Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
