My Story

Team Porter Johnson

Porter was two when he was diagnosed with leukemia on July 9th of 2017. He spent a week inpatient at the time of his diagnoses and was then sent home with his terrified moms. They were to administer chemo, steroids, and a number of other medications daily. Porter had 9 months of frontline treatment that was extremely intense and, at times, made him really sick. On his third birthday he started long term maintenance. This phase of treatment will last until September 15, 2020. He gets chemo every day at home, he takes a week of steroids every month (his moms make sure the fridge is stocked prior to steroid week), he goes to the hospital once a month so the he can get chemo in his port, and every three months he gets a lumbar puncture so they can put chemo in his spinal fluid to tap into any badness that could possibly hide around his brain. He has numerous other medications that help treat the side effect of the above mentioned medications.

He is an extremely resilient little guy who tells his family every night before bed that “he loves his life”. He is funny, smart, and loved by everyone who meets him
