Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
Riley was diagnosed on Friday the 13th of October. Riley's story began just a few days before... Riley came to us on the previous Sunday and showed us a mass in his groin. We took him to the ER that night thinking it was a hernia. ER docs insured us that he was fine and to follow up with his pediatrician in a few weeks if the mass was not gone. We followed up the next day.. His pediatrician had some blood drawn that came back clear, but being the amazing doctor she is, she persisted and we followed up with an ultrasound the following day. Based on those results we were sent to a surgeon on Thursday and had the mass removed on Friday.. we got home about 1pm and received a call at 4 that Riley had cancer. We spent the next week in the hospital testing and and getting ready for his battle. He was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.
We have almost completed the first round and are ready for whatever future treatments hold. Riley is a very strong kid. He has played hockey since he was 3 and has the personality of a true warrior!
