I am 11 years old and would like to share my story with you. Back in 2012 when I was 7 year old, I was diagnosed with a type of Brain cancer known as Ependymoma. I underwent a total of 9 surgery's that year, 3  of the surgery's were to  to remove all of the tumor. Due to these surgery's, I ended up with nerve damage which caused me to permanently loose all the hearing in my right ear and almost all the vision in my right eye. I also ended up with balance issues and needing to have a shunt placed in my head permanently due to hydrocephalus (fluid in the brain).  I also suffer from some memory loose.  As part of my cancer treatment I had 4 rounds of Chemotherapy and 42 rounds of Proton Radiation. Everything I went through was very scary, but I knew I had to do it in order to get better.Today I am 11 years old and have to have an  MRI every 6 months to make sure that the cancer has not returned.  I need to take growth hormone shots everyday to help my body to grow right because this is a side effect from the Proton Radiation. And I take Physical Therapy to help me with my balance issues. I see a lot of Doctors at the hospital regularly that monitor my health issues I sustained due to my diagnosis. But I am glad they are they are there to help me.Some of the things I like to do is read, ride my bike, watch You Tube, play with my friends, go shopping at the mall, sing and dance and make videos on Musical.ly, go to the beach and play with my cat Dez.When I grow up I would like to be either a Baker, Veterinarian, Author or a Book Publisher. I hope you have enjoyed my story and would love to hear from you.
