My Story

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.                                       ~~   #emmastrong   ~~ On Nov 10, 2016 Emma was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and started chemotherapy the next day. Prior to cancer Emma had never been ill....ever. However, since her diagnosis Emma has been admitted to the hospital on five seperate occasions with many more planned hospitalizations in the future. She has since had multiple lumbar punctures and other procedures (port in/port out, picc line, feeding tube, bone marrow biopsy x2, bronchoscopy x 4, CT/xrays/MRI), she has been given half a dozen chemotherapy drugs & recently survived sepsis that led to multiple system organ dysfunction and being intubated & on mechanical ventilation for 2 weeks. Despite everything that cancer has taken from Emma she remains optimistic and determined. She is a dancer, softball player & student council member. She plays the piano and the flute. She loves her siblings and her puppy and wants to be a pediatrician someday (even before childhood cancer was ever a part of our lives). Each and every day Emma puts a smile on her face and she has inspired an entire community to do the same.
