After several weeks of unexplained, low grade fevers coupled with excessive exhaustion, repeat trips to the pediatrician for blood work and a later visit with oncology for a bone marrow biopsy, Andrew was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on 12/22/16.
We spent 5 days at the children's hospital in the hands of some of the best medical staff I've ever met. Andrew had surgery to have a mediport placed on 12/23/16 and his treatment regimen began that day. He's had several doses of intrathecal chemo, which he is sedated for, as well as IV chemo and steroids.
After a bone marrow aspiration on 1/19/17, we were given the news on 1/23/17 that Andrew's leukemia is in remission. He will continue treatment as a standard risk patient for about 3.5 years.
Andrew is handling the challenges of cancer like a warrior. We are grateful beyond words for the outpouring of support all around. Please join us in prayer as we continue this difficult road to recovery. #TeamAndrew
