Cecilia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia during March of 2016. At 13-months-old, Cecilia was having difficulty walking and started to bruise very easily. Even changing her diapers would leave bruises from our fingertips. After a couple of doctor visits, she was finally sent to an orthopedic specialist who did a blood draw on Cecilia. It only took an hour for him to diagnose the problem. That night we went to Denver and Cecilia started what would be a two-year treatment. Currently, Cecilia is in the maintenance part of her treatment. We visit the clinic once a month for chemo and blood-wok. At home she receives one chemo every night and a second chemo every Friday. She also takes a dose of steroids for five days out of the month. In the first year since her diagnosis, we have been amazed at the outreach and support that we reach from people all around the world. We are so fortunate that this experience does not stop us from enjoying the beautiful, funny, and determined toddler that she is turning out to be.
