My Story
Eden Finn-Melgoza was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic leukemia in July 2011 at the age of 13. An honors student and athlete, Eden has endured her rigorous and painful cancer treatments with grace and dignity. In January 2012 we were blessed to find a bone marrow donor match from Europe through the Be The Match Registry. On March 16, 2012, Eden will receive a life saving bone marrow transplant at the UCSF Benioff Children's hospital. Prior to her transplant, Eden will receive total body radiation and high doses of chemotherapy which will completely destroy her existing bone marrow and immunity cells. Eden will be in a pressure positive room with restricted access for three months to prevent infection until her new bone marrow will begin to graft and produce immunity cells. After she comes home, Eden will have to stay home (like house arrest) for about nine months to prevent infections. If you would like to send Eden a card, her address is: UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital 7 Long Room 751 In care of Ms. Eden Finn-Melgoza 505 Parnassus Avenue San Francisco, CA 94143
