John Robert Was diagnosed with Pre B ALL one month before his 3rd birthday. After running a 12 day fever, John Robert's parents and pediatrician decided to have blood work done. That same day the unthinkable happened. John Robert's parents received a phone call from his pediatrician who said his blood work showed blast cells, a sign of leukemia. Their whole world changed in an instant. John Robert was checked into the emergency room at Children's Hospital in New Orleans where he would spend the next 17 days being poked, prodded and injected with toxic chemicals to save his life.
John Robert is now in his sixth month of treatment and doing remarkably well. He is a huge Thomas the Train fan and enjoys riding his toy bulldozer at home and playing with his dog Coco when he is not in treatment.
His mom and dad are thankful for the life saving research that was done long before his diagnosis and that will continue long after he beats his illness. Without the help of organizations like St. Baldrick's, the over 90 percent success rate over John Robert's disease could not be possible. No child should have to endure cancer, and with the continued help of St. Baldrick's John Robert and his family look forward to the day when they can say, "Childhood Cancer Has Been Cured."
