I am a 15 year leukemia survivor thanks to the researchers and support of the St. Baldricks Foundation and my community of Northport, New York! I was diagnosed in 1999 with high-risk ALL. Two years after my diagnosis, while still in treatment, my parents and I began our volunteer work with the St. Baldrick's committee in Northport. After reading an article about my cancer journey, one of the founder's told me that he was inspired to start St. Baldrick's. Little did I know this foundation would become the world's leading funder of childhood cancer research.
As a college senior, studying to become a Child Life Specialist, I hope to improve the lives of those children on treatment and their families. I look forward to becoming a childhood cancer research advocate. I hope in my lifetime that there will be a cure for all childhood cancers.
