Regan is an energetic and vibrant little girl with an infectious personality. In December 2006, she was looking forward to what the month (and Santa Claus) would bring. In the middle of the month we took her into the doctor for what appeared to be a routine childhood illness; however, we soon found out this was not to be the case. What followed was a whirlwind experience going from the diagnosis of a tumor on Monday afternoon, to the removal of a baseball sized tumor and her right kidney on Wednesday, and the week following, confirmation that Regan had a stage one Wilms tumor with favorable histology. Regan then started chemotherapy three days before Christmas and is due to finish in May 2007.
Throughout the entire process, Regan has remained a trooper. Whether it was antagonizing her sisters from the hospital bed, to making the decision to cut her own hair off during chemo, to overcoming the fear of pushing her own medicine in ' Regan's true spirit has always shined through.
We truly feel thankful and blessed for Regan's health and all the support that has been given to her from friends far and near.
