When Alyssa was 5 years old and about three weeks away from starting kindergarten, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her bone marrow was 95-99% leukemia cells. She spent a week in the hospital for the start of her treatment. Then she made weekly/monthly trips to Kansas City after that for two years and two months. After the first month of treatment, she had another bone marrow biopsy and it showed she was in remission. Through all this Alyssa has always stayed strong and fought an awesome fight. In October 2013, Alyssa finished her treatment. For the last year and a half, she has continued going for routine blood test to make sure everything is still good. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
