Gisella was diagnosed with ALL at 11 months old.18 moths after treatment, her cancer came back. She needed to start a chemo treatment more intense than the first one, but after a couple of months, she had kidney and heart failure. At this point the doctors decided to try and go for a bone marrow transplant instead. We were referred to UCSF. On June 1st of 2012 she had her first bone marrow transplant. After only 3 months post transplant, her donor cells dropped to 13 %. The doctors were sure it was a relapse. Thank God it wasn't! In the next year we tried to bring her cells up but we couldn't. The doctors decided to do another bone marrow transplant. In April 30th of 2013 she had her second transplant. Everything was going perfect for the first year, but then her platelets wouldn't go up.. always on the low side. And on August of 2014 she was diagnosed with MDS.  She started a 6 month chemo treatment in September 2014. She was just done in February 13th 2015. At this point we just need to wait and hope this treatment worked. We are hopeful that it will, and we pray to God every day that He will heal her once and for all. I think Gisella has bright things ahead of her. She has big plans. She want to be a doctor when she grows up, so that she can heal little kids like her. We thank God every day for allowing us to be with Gisella one more day, we take it one day at a time. We're hopeful that one day there will be a cure for the different types of childhood cancers that exist. And hoping for a world with no cancer one day...
