My Story

Tay was diagnosed because she had a backache. Fearing pneumonia we did an x-ray and discovered a softball sized tumor over her heart, one in her armpit, and a third in her neck. She was immediately admitted to Sutter for treatment and we almost lost her to complications with her tumor two days later. The pain in her back was being caused by her lung filling up with fluid in response to her largest tumor, and three days after she was admitted it collapsed. They ended up draining over 750cc's of fluid over the next two days. She endured so much over that first few weeks. In addition, she stopped speaking- only writing every response to anyone who spoke to her. She sat in silence, pondering...I don't know what. The day we told her she had cancer was not as dark as I had expected it to be. After we spoke about it she asked for some paper, in response to the horrifying news she drew the most beautiful picture of flowers basking in sunshine. She has been my fighter since day one. Taylor's end of treatment date was July 3rd 2015. We had the most amazing party complete with tee-pee camping, wild animals, buffalo petting, train rides, horse back rides, bonfire, dinner at the diner, and an incredible fireworks show donated by a local business.
It is not over though, Taylor will be shaving along side mom, this year. This disease has lit a fire in her soul and she cannot sit idly.
