My Story

Aeryn is a 4 year old girl from Grand Forks, ND.  She was diagnosed with AML the day after she moved back home to Grand Forks after a 2 year stay in New York state. She was diagnosed in May 2014 and was given a 30% chance to live. Aeryn underwent 6 months of heavy chemo in Fargo at Sanford children's hospital, and then went to Mayo for a bone marrow transplant. Aeryn and her family stayed in Rochester at the Ronald Mcdonald House until Thanksgiving 2014 when she was discharged back home to Grand Forks. As of January 2015 Aeryn's cancer is in remission, and the bone marrow transplant has taken with no issues. Aeryn is such a happy child who loves all her friends and family. She loves Legos, Ninja Turtles, stuffed animals, and playing video games with Dad. Aeryn and her family have recently started going to UND hockey games in Grand Forks which she enjoys very much. You can read about Aeryn's journey by going to colespages.org and typing her name in the search. Since St. Baldrick's Day in March 2015, Aeryn was able to begin attending pre school again in May. She loves being with other children again and learns so much every day. She has become an excellent artist and is learning letters and numbers. She does have to go see the doctors every months and she does not enjoy getting pokes to get her blood checked, but she is very tough and brave. Aeryn's Dad was able to begin working again in May and life is starting to get back to some semblance of normalcy. October is the one year anniversary date of Aeryn's bone marrow transplant that saved her life. After the appointments at Mayo that week, she will be able to take more time between check ups, and that will make life even better. Aeryn and her family look forward to participating in St. Baldrick's day 2016, and appreciate everything the foundation has done.
