Emily was a vivacious young lady 10 days shy of her 24th birthday
when her cancer was discovered during outpatient surgery for an
ovarian cyst. Her remarkable courage as she battled her cancer,
kept up her studies in her final semester at UW-Milwaukee, and
her job as a hair stylist on the weekends was truly an inspiration.
However, after 7 months of battle, she found herself in the ICU at
Aurora Medical Center-Kenosha. UWM sent a contingent of
people to award her her degree 62 hours before she died - a truly
proud moment for Emily. Almost 100 hospital employees joined
family and friends at the ceremony in the hospital's conference
room. Emily even gave her own "keynote address."
We miss our little girl every day. She continues to inspire us.
