Chrystian was diagnosed with stage 3 Heptablastoma at the age of 9 months. He started with chemotherapy right away to shrink his tumor in his liver. He was flown to Pittsburgh at 13 months old to have over half of his liver removed. After having the tumor from his liver removed, we came back to NY to continue chemotherapy to remove the remaining cancer cells. During his process of chemotherapy, he was labeled deaf. He has mild to moderate frequency hearing lost. He now wears hearing aids and will have to for he rest of his life. He also has sensory processing disorder due to the set backs of the cancer treatment. Chrystian has had 10 different surgeries stemming from the cancer journey. Chrystian has two sisters and a brother that joined the cancer journey with him as well as his daddy and I. He is four years in remission and now goes once a year for check ups. Cancer hits close to home for our family. Chrystian lost his grandma Jeanie to cancer on Christmas Eve of 2006. (Although he was not born yet.) our Christmas present 4 years ago, was finding out Chrystian won his courageous battle with cancer and was officially Cancer FREE! Although he still has struggles Chrystian is a very lovable and carefree in his eyes.
