My Story
Instead of attending his second birthday party, Colin ended up at the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, anaplastic ependymoma. He had two surgeries close to home and then traveled to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where he was treated under a protocol to help young children with brain tumors.
After four months of high dose chemotherapy, he had a third brain surgery and radiation. He completed treatment with a regimen of oral chemotherapy at home.
Although Colin was left neurologically devastated by surgery and treatment, he rebounded and quickly recovered his joy for life. He has relearned how to eat, talk, walk, and many other things, but enjoys life as a vivacious first grader in Ithaca, NY.
Childhood cancer can be devastating for a family, but St. Baldrick's is looking to give families hope and help them recover. Please help us honor the brave and resilient spirits of the children who are affected by cancer and are only hoping to grow up and be like their friends.
