My Story

On October 31, 2013, my 17 year old son Cameron was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Prior to that time, he lived the life of a typical teenager...friends, school, music, sports. But he was not a typical teenager.  Although I always knew of his strength, he showed me the magnitude of his personal fortitude, determination and grace as he walked this path.  He was exceptional at each cross-road and showed me what it meant to live.
Through treatment, he always believed, as did his father and I, that he was going to beat this dreadful disease and fulfill his dreams.   To the last days, he looked forward to walking the halls of Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design and making the world a better place through his art, his vision and his compassion for others.  Cameron was the center of our world and each day is a struggle as we cannot hold his hand and watch him grow into the man he wanted to be.
The lack of funding for pediatric cancer is a tragedy.  Every day 46 families will hear the words that broke our hearts on October 31, 2013:  "your child has cancer."  We didn't think it possible that this could happen to our son.  Don't let it happen to yours.
