AT THE AGE OF 10, MICHAEL'S LIFE WAS PUT ON HOLD.
CANCER HAD BEEN FOUND IN A LUMP UNDER HIS ARM.
OUR PEDIATRICIAN ACTED QUICKLY AND LINED HIM UP WITH
THE STAFF AT HOPE HOSPITAL. HE WAS STAGE ONE AND
LOCAL. SEVEN WEEKS OF INTENSE CHEMO FOLLOWED.
MICHAEL WAS A BRAVE LITTLE BOY. HE ENDURED ALL OF
THE SYMPTOMS. ALTHOUGH HIS MISSED ABOUT 3 WEEKS OF
SCHOOL IN ALL, HE CONTINUED TO GET STRAIGHT A'S. ST.
GEORGE GRAMMER SCHOOL WAS EXTREMELY SUPPORTIVE,
EVEN ALLOWING HIM TO WEAR HIS HAT DURING MASS.
MICHAEL IS NOW CANCER FREE TWO YEARS! HE IS A
STRONGER KID EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY NOW THEN
EVER. HE PLAYED FOOTBALL THE FALL AFTER HIS TREAT-
MENT ENDED AND CONTINUES TO PLAY ELITE TRAVEL BASE-
BALL AND SCHOOL BASKETBALL. HE ENJOYS READING,
VIDEOS, SWIMMING IN THE POOL AND JUST BEING A 12
YEAR OLD.
HE IS VERY COMPASSIONATE AND SENSITIVE TO CANCER
PATIENTS. UPON EVERY VISIT, IS STILL REMAINS HARD TO
WATCH THE CHILDREN AT THE CLINIC TOLERATE THIS
UGLY DISEASE. BUT HE KNOWS THAT HE WAS ONE OF THE
LUCKY ONES WHO BEAT IT THROUGH STRENGTH AND FAITH.
