Drew was and is a typical 10 year old boy but when a tummy ache turned into a tumor the size of a brick and emergency surgery revealed a parents worst nightmare that he had Wilms tumor, our world turned upside down. However, we are truly blessed that after only 9 months and many hospital stays, radiation, chemotherapy, and constant dr visits later, he is back to living a normal life and we are working on unspoiling him as it is impossible not to give into the every wish of a child who is so sick. So normal is a great way to be in our house. We are looking forward to baseball season and warm sunny days to ride his dirtbike since our summer last year was devoted to treating his cancer. We continue to have checkups and scans to be sure he stays cancer free which we know he will be.
