My Story

Alex was diagnosed with High Risk Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) on May 2, 1997, a month before his 3rd birthday. He underwent 131 weeks of high dose chemotherapy at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital @ Stanford and finished treatment on November 24, 1999. While Alex was in treatment he made a friend named Luke who was also in treatment for leukemia. Alex and Luke shared a love of Fruit Loops, roller coasters and Thomas the Tank Engine. Unfortunately Luke relapsed from ALL to AML needed a bone marrow transplant. He was unable to find a donor and died a month before his 5th birthday. Alex is now a healthy Sophomore at the University of Oregon (GO DUCKS) he's enjoying college and living on his own. He enjoys playing basketball, surfing and going to DUCK football games. He's a business major with an emphasis on sports marketing. He's hoping to work for a professional team some day.
