My Story
Pierce loved the outdoors - fishing, camping, climbing trees, anything that let him just be a kid! He played football and lacrosse, enjoying the preparation and teammates perhaps more that the games themselves. in June of 2013 he started experiencing weakness in his left side, and was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (grade 3) brain tumor. He went through 6 weeks of chemotherapy and proton beam radiation. 4 months after diagnosis, his tumor was determined to have progressed to a GBM (grade 4). He underwent surgery to remove most of the tumor. He eventually lost much of the strength in the left side of his body making it very difficult for him to walk, and he couldn't really use his left arm or hand at all. Pierce persevered and was determined to beat this disease. In October 2014, our brave warrior left this earth, but his legacy lives on and his mission remains the same; win the fight against childhood cancer.
