It is quite amazing how life can change from one day to the next. Joseph is a very athletic, articulate, and joyful young boy who enjoys life to its fullest. One day, Joseph started complaining of "pain" in his ankle that prevented him from putting pressure on it. As parents, we had a feeling something was wrong but couldn't pinpoint the cause. The pain got worse and everyday tasks like walking to school, playing basketball, and karate became impossible. Several doctors visits later we were told to take Joseph to the ER which showed an abnormality in his blood. Then on November 8th 2013, a day that will live forever in our minds as the day Joseph was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Hearing news so earth shattering leaves you quite numb to reality. When the fog cleared, we realized that God had a great mission for us and for Joseph. Thus far, after a few months of therapy Joseph is walking again, and more importantly, going back to his old activities like playing with his 3 younger brothers Sean, Thomas, and Colin. Although Joseph is not quite in remission yet (0.001 disease remaining to be exact) he is showing such progress and we KNOW that he will beat this illness just like so many have before him! The strength that Joseph has shown thus far has been inspirational to many. Joseph continues to fight the good fight everyday.
