Kevin is now 14 years old. He was diagnosed with acute mylogeous leukemia in 9/05. He received a bone maarrow transplant on 12/14/05. He is currently cancer free and 100% of his bone marrow is donor bone marrow.
He's had a lot of complications, including grade IV graft vs. host disease that has affected his skin and liver. He developed the equivalent of a 2nd degree burn on 17% of his body, has had pneumonia, hemorrhagic cystitis, shingles, cytomegalovirus, blood infections and avascular necrosis of both his hips. Earlier this year, he had to have ear surgery because of recurrent ear infections and will be having one of his hips replaced in about a month (we hope). Somehow he's managed to keep a relatively positive outlook and he does his best to keep his nurses upbeat and laughing. He even dressed up like a whoopee cushion for Halloween!!
Kevin is a true hero and a figthter.
