My Story

Daniel George Wedge IV aka Pooter visited the doctor for his 3-year-old check-up a few days after his third birthday. During his visit it was noticed that his glands on side of his neck were somewhat swollen and inflamed. After several weeks of testing, Daniel was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL. Daniel is the son  Firefighter - Operator of Terrytown Fire Department and Jefferson Parish Fire Department Dispatcher, Daniel George Wedge III, and Michelle Lynch Wedge. Daniel is currently in remission and received treatment at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA. April 9, 2017, Daniel received his very last dose of chemotherapy! August 10, 2017, Daniel had his port removed. This was 24 hours before his first day of 1st grade! He has been doing amazing in school and enjoying life as a “normal” kid! It’s organizations like St. Baldrick’s that help fund research for safer treatments and helping kids live, eventually to one day find a cure!
